There is no need for sand or other materials to control resonance. Bamboo does not contribute artificial notes such as the ping or ring from metal stands. Bamboo material makes all your other components in the room sound better. Frankly, sand is not really effective over time at controlling or eliminating vibrations. In most cases the sand is required to ensure stability in hollow channel pipe designs and to muffle the ping of the steel columns of conventional stands.
